Why report a scam?

Reporting a scam is important because it helps build a picture of the crime and prevents others from becoming victims.

  • It helps prevent others from being scammed – your information can help the police prevent others from becoming victims of the same scam.
  • Stops fraudsters from being successful – if you don’t report a scam, the fraudster may learn from their experience and be successful again in the future.
  • Completes the picture – your information can help complete the picture of a larger scam, which may involve hundreds or thousands of other victims.

Fraud or cybercrime can be reported to Report Fraud 24/7 using their online reporting tool. The process is quick and straightforward, with simple questions to help identify what has occurred. If you need assistance, their advisors are available around the clock to provide help and guidance.

If you’ve fallen victim to a scam, fraud, or online crime (cybercrime), you can report it to Report Fraud:

Report Fraud is the national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime, gathering reports on behalf of the police.

Is it an emergency?

Call 999 now in emergency situations like these:
