Resources & Advice

Staying informed about scams is crucial to protecting yourself and your community. In Derbyshire, several resources are available to help you identify, prevent, and report scams.

Action Fraud

Action Fraud is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime. If you suspect a scam or have fallen victim, you can report it online or by calling 0300 123 2040. Their website also offers advice on protecting yourself from scams.

Derbyshire Police

Visit the Derbyshire Police website for up-to-date information on local scams and fraud prevention tips. The site includes resources on how to recognise different types of scams and what to do if you encounter one.

Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD)

We work closely with Derbyshire Police to raise awareness about scams. Our website offers educational resources, news about local initiatives like the “Sock It to the Scammers” campaign, and information on upcoming awareness sessions.

If you would like a Scams Awareness Session, please contact Helen Ward – h.ward@ruralactionderbyshire.org.uk

Citizens Advice

Citizens Advice provides comprehensive guidance on how to spot, avoid, and report scams. Their Scams Action service offers support if you’ve been scammed and helps with next steps.

Friends Against Scams

Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards Scams Team initiative which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering people to take a stand against scams
